Great night again for the first night of The Beavers residency at Essendon Rowing Club. For those that haven’t kept up correspondence, The Beavers will now play at the Rowing club on the first Friday of each month from now on.
What must be said, before anything else, is what a great effort from the band especially Ross and Keith as they were both suffering badly from awful colds. Most people probably didn’t realise and they still sang and played wonderfully. Lesser men would have just not turned up! (Ross told me to say that…)
A smaller crowd than usual but as a lot of regulars did not make it (too cold, too wet?) but that meant there were more newcomers to the night which is terrific. We hope that the many new people that were there become regular regulars!
Wasn’t it nice to see Ross’s mum Coral back again after missing the last gig. Big effort Coral everybody loves seeing you there and I think Ross plays better when you are there! Of course he and all the guys were playing for all Mums and wishing them a wonderful Mothers Day.
I was surprised to see Trish and her friends make themselves at home as soon as they walked in the door.I just had to take a snap of the beautiful Trish lounging like she was at home on the couch watching a movie! They eventually got off the couch to dance and looked like they were having a great time.
And isn’t young love wonderful? Did you catch the loving couple, Dizzy and Peter, having a wonderful time together. Ah to be in love again. I think I will cop it for that!
I noticed, and there is a picture to prove it, Grant and friends attempting an air guitar session. Don’t give up your day jobs! And by the way Grant who was that attempting to put her tongue in your ear? Hope Deb doesn’t see the photo!
You just had to see this to believe it — there were the guys playing their hearts out and where were half the crowd?— Glued to the television watching the footy. Who are the Beavers? – the footy is on! Typical!
Grace did a beaut job on Nutbush considering she was on one leg but you wouldn’t have known unless you asked her — then you got the whole story! And Geoff did his usual great job on Gimme Some Lovin.
And of course Rob did his usual terrific job in starting out the night and a few tunes during the night. Very talented and, I might add, talented with the ladies too Rob from what I saw!
Well that’s about it for another gig. Don’t hesitate to add to the comments on the night if you feel so inclined.
Hopefully see you all at the next gig. Don’t forget — the first Friday of every month. See you there.
